Series of Open Dialogue events between citizens and agencies
As part of its effort to contribute to informing and activating citizens in the public sphere, EMERGE organizes a series of open dialogue events between citizens and government agencies. These events aim to offer citizens the opportunity to be informed about the data recorded and the policies being implemented, but also to discuss with the officials by submitting their opinions, suggestions and experiences.
The series of public dialogue events includes thematic discussions, which will be held at the CARDET offices (Lykavittou 29, Engomi) and are open to the public. More information on the topics and the organizations that will take part in them, as well as the expression of interest forms, are listed below.
1st Open Public Dialogue “Education for Peace and Active Citizenship”
Thursday 8 February I 17:00 – 18:30
The first event of the series will be held with the participation of a representative of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth and will examine the relationship and role of education in the effort to encourage and strengthen the participation of students in society and the building of a culture of peace.
In the context of the event, the participants will exchange opinions and have the opportunity to discuss suggestions and experiences on the following topics:
The role of education in shaping a culture of peace
Peace Education: Fighting Prejudice
Active citizenship in the school environment

2nd Open Public Dialogue “Gender and Education: Towards an Equality Society”
Wednesday 14 February I 17:00 – 18:30
The second event of the series is organized in collaboration with the Office of the Commissioner for Gender Equality, and as part of its work, the connection between education and the effort to combat gender stereotypes with the aim of promoting equality will be analyzed. The Gender Equality Commissioner Ms. Jozis Christodoulou will take part in the Open Dialogue, presenting the actions and strategies promoted by her office, exchanging views with the participants.
During the event, the participants will discuss suggestions and experiences on the following topics:
The role of education in shaping a culture for gender equality.
The gender dimension in choosing a profession.

3rd Open Public Dialogue “The active participation of young people in society”
Wednesday 21 February I 18:00 – 19:30
The third event of the series is organized in collaboration with the Cyprus Youth Organization (ONEK) and will focus on the existing data, conditions as well as the necessary steps to promote and strengthen the active citizenship of young people.
The President of ONEK, Mr. Kleanthis Koutsoftas, will participate in the Open Dialogue, presenting the actions, programs and supporting services offered by ONEK to support and promote the active participation of young people.
In the context of the event, the participants will exchange opinions and have the opportunity to discuss suggestions and experiences on the following topics:
The involvement of young people in politics and democratic life
The participation of young people in organized groups

4th Open Public Dialogue Sustainability, Environment and Sustainable Development
Wednesday March 6, I 18:00 – 19:30
The Fourth event of the series is organized in collaboration with the Office of the Commissioner of the Environment, where the Commissioner of the Environment Ms. Antonia Theodosiou will take part, presenting the actions and strategies promoted by her office, exchanging views with the participants.
